Thank you very much for the new revised news app 25.0.3 with again OPML export/import. And that it has now been released. I use it together with the very good nextcloud news android app. The direct youtube integration is also helpful.

I just installed the alpha version of this app to my server running Nextcloud version 30. It works fantastic for the most part and fixes the completely broken UI which was due to the incompatibility of the last full release with the current Nextcloud version.

I only noticed two things which I'm sure will be fixed for the full release:

  1. The option to import/export your feeds as an OPML seems to be gone.
  2. The sorting of the articles by date and time seems to be a bit broken. They are still roughly in order (the ones from a week ago com after the ones from today...) but some article from two or three hours ago are listed before those from one hour ago. I don't know if this is a new bug or if this was the case for a longer time. But if it would be fixed I would call the app nearly perfect.

Thanks for your work on this app!

This was a great app, but hasn't been updated in a year. Unfortunately almost completely broken for the past several Nextcloud releases. I have no idea how this is a 5-star and featured app. Doesn't really give me much confidence in the rating scheme.

has been broken after a NC upgrade. No updates in the app store showing any effort to test with NC beta releases so not well maintained. Best i switch to using RSS Guard on my linux platform than this app in NC.

Import always breaks css in browser. I started with nc25 and am now at 27, it never got prettier.

However, reading in browser is ok. Sync to phone(s) works perfectly. Mark as read syncs to all other devices. Import & Export work. This is a workhorse app, and I wouldn't want to lose it.

In an attempt to move away from Google. I have setup up the News app to follow up on my Youtube old subscription list. I get updates not only from world News at large, but also Reddit subs, along with my old Youtube channels. Which I then follow up on Invidious when I feel like watching them. No Youtube login needed.

The News app is a great addition to Nextcloud and one of my most used apps. Highly recommended not only to keep up with your favourite sites but also as a tool to improve your overall internet privacy. Especially when coupled with a VPN.

The mobile app is the icing on the cake as you can have access to your feeds anywhere while on the go. The experience is much better on Mobile as the app has a few extra options the newer UI on Cloud lacks. However, the Cloud version looks better than it did during NC26.

On the pro side, it is simple, has some relevant functionality, it works, it is free.

If you are used to more capable feed readers this one lacks.

Simple, feels faster in the browser than some desktop apps I've used. Took me all of a minute to install on my Nextcloud server, and a few more to find the export button on Feedly. (It imported my subscriptions perfectly, by the way.)

The Nextcloud News for Android app works really well with it, too. Lightweight, fast, and stable. Works exactly like you'd expect, down to swiping gestures to save/archive posts from the list view, or flip through article view, and matches the system light/dark theme by default.

The good news is that you can connect to your nextcloud news server using third party apps on android and ios. Several of those apps are very good. The bad news is that using news from within the nextcloud web interface is somewhat mediocre to bad. Looking at the github repo, it appears that there is little interest in improving the app: The issue "Front end is outdated" was opened in 2017!

One of my most-used Nextcloud apps. Works great! Does require a bit of additional configuration though.

Works good even with quite a few RSS subscriptions and makes it easy to continue reading on my smartphone by keeping favourite and read articles in sync. Thanks a lot!

I had tried this app years ago and only thought it was okay. Because I saw an app called "Newsie" in the UBports "OpenStore" of apps for the Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system, I thought I would try it.

Newsie connects the Nextcloud News app in the cloud to the mobile device. This made me give the News program a second look. It must have improved a lot since I first tried it because today I like it a lot! I can see it's going to be my go-to RSS type notifier from now on.

Needs work for the web interface, as there are multiple obvious issues. The companion Android app is not up to a competitive level with other apps, but hopefully some of those other apps will add the support to use Nextcloud as a backend. The FeedMe developer seems interested.

I love the app but wished we could find a maintainer for it. It has a view interface bugs but the core function of bringing in rss feeds works great

Very useful app because you get all your news in your Nextcloud. It's a pity that the app is currently unmaintained. I hope that a new maintainer can be found for the app soon.
