A library for all your recipes. It uses JSON files following the schema.org recipe format. To add a recipe to the collection, you can paste in the URL of the recipe, and the provided web page will be parsed and downloaded to whichever folder you specify in the app settings.

I'm just starting to set this app up; I can see how it would be useful but it also seems a bit limiting. For example, I can technically select multiple categories, but I can only save one. I can only add one photo, which seems limiting... I have lots of recipes that have multiple photos per step to show technique. I would love to be able to add attachments as well. It'd be great if I could add a recipe to a meal planner, tick off the ingredients I have, and have the remainder added to a Task app list. The search/filter options seem a bit unreliable or unintuitive. But I can see how it has potential.

Love the app, I've been using it for years.

I love how many things it does behind the gui to make it easier to use for the user.

big thanks goes to the team.

Great app, this is the only recipe app that I have actually used for more than a few days bc it's simple, intuitive, and easy to use. I particularly love the import feature and the ability to edit recipes

I just installed this on my Nextcloud instance running in a TrueNas jail. After sorting out a minor permissions issue (on my end), I love this app! I have not yet imported recipes from websites yet, I've only entered a few by hand. But this app does everything that I've ever wanted out of an app like this. I installed a client on my Android phone (the one by Teifun2), and it links up perfectly!

Really impressive app. It had good reviews, but I was skeptical. It works very well with major recipe sites like Food Network and All Recipes. I tried with smaller sites / blogs - not as reliable there. The author may have written parsers specific to some sites. I can't complain though. Super convenient!

A must have app for any personal deployment.

My wife and I absolutely rely on this app. I just share the folder between nextcloud accounts and point each android client to each nextcloud account. Both the main app and the android client are so well thought out and easy to use.

It's awesome! I set it up for my entire family and extended family. We now all can add recipes. No more texting, "Hey what's that recipe again?"

Excellent app. In the beginning it was not possible to import smulweb.nl and ah.nl from url. But now almost every recipe site is imported! Including the image. Great job!

Love it. Recipes are easy to enter via URL or manually. Categorization is perfect also, just enough options to be very useful while not too many to make it tedious to use. Well done.

Genius. I love the clear, clean look of the recipes, the approaches to sorting, the parsing of online recipes (I liked the app before I realized that was even a part of it!).

Brilliant app!

The wife and I use this to save any and all recipes we've really liked, or whenever we manage to cook up something on our own. Made any changes to that recipe you found online? Safe them here! Cookbook and the Android app make cooking much mor enjoyable. From using the Android app as a shopping list, to countdown features and listing every little detail needed.

Can't wait for this to support Nextcloud 20, so we can update our Nextcloud instance!

EDIT: Cookbook works with version 20 of Nextcloud now. Thank you very much!

This app brings me a lot of joy. I have more happiness from rewriting a version of a recipe than I do from importing them from external sites. Like a Peurto Rican Beans & Rice recipe was so confusing that I did it wrong the first time through and the result was woefully under flavored. In hindsight, I knew a better way to write the plans for making it so I created it in this app from scratch. Following the new instructions was so much tastier than the first mixup. ;)

It's also great for me to add recipes I made on my own, like my approximation of the local Bison Brand "French Onion" Chip Dip, where I reverse-engineered their product from experimentation based on their ingredients list. It seems like overkill till you know that it isn't sold most places and when you leave Buffalo, NY, USA, you miss it.

Old rating from June 2019 below

This is pretty cool, but I think you should give a list of recipe servers that work well with it.

I tried 5 at random when looking for "Slow Cooked Brisket" and the first download gave a photo, ingredients list, and an empty instructions section. All the others refused to be downloaded.

I have been using this app for a while now and it is useful. Opened it for the first time since the last update and - wow. Very nice update :-) New layouts and Categories. A Timer!

Need a new rating - Very Good. Or maybe I should rate it OK, so the next release can get an improved rating?

This app is improving all the time. More websites are compatible with the import process now. The recent changes in the layout and presentation, to me, show the passion the author has for this app. I use this app a lot and also love the way my wife and I can share the exact same recipes just by sharing the app folder. So simple.

Hey all you cooks ;-)

it's nice to find all these working URLs here. But i think it should be collected at the forum --> https://help.nextcloud.com/t/working-urls-for-cookbook/61612

the comments here are meant to be for rating only, as far as i understood it from description here.

cook on and don't let any thing burn to the ground :-) jimmy

btw: jeppe zapp is doing some great job here. the app really improved a lot during last weeks and months. yay!

This app is well done. Not much information is given what to do and where to find recipes.

A German site which works is www.chefkoch.de

Please collect information about sites that work fine or which work partly.

  • This site https://www.smulweb.nl/recepten/144752/Satesaus is imported, but the ingredients are missing. ** When imported the instructions have alternating empty instruction boxes. ** Preparations (voorbereiding) tekst misses.

  • This site https://www.leukerecepten.nl/recepten/satesaus/ has the schema.org reference, but is not imported. How can one check/verify that the page can be imported?

This is awesome, but there's a lot of websites it won't work with (yet.)

I also noticed if a registered trademark character is in the name or description, it won't import.

But to Michael Rupp's request and help my wife along with using this app, I've sat down this morning, tested and validated as many recipe websites that would work with this app for now. If anyone else comes across more / other sites that work, not listed here, please share in the comments.

https://pinchofyum.com/

https://www.foodnetwork.co.uk/

https://www.tasteofhome.com/

https://www.101cookbooks.com/

https://www.gousto.co.uk/cookbook/

https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/

https://www.traegergrills.com/recipes/

Additionally, it would be nice to see the following features:

1.) Username who submitted the Recipe (for in the case of shared Recipe folders)

2.) Whole Recipe Site Import function option, in addition to existing individual recipe import function.

Great job and many thanks! You've just given me a way to curb my wife from PM'ing me all the recipes she comes across. :)
