While I don't think all of this is the fault of this app, wanted to put this here to save others from wasting the time using this.

First off, you have to create your own app in googles API system. Assign all the correct APIs to it's scope. And then create a credentials service for it to authenticate with. This app doesn't do much to explain all this anywhere. I was able to figure it out but not everyone will be able to. Also, your newly created app on google will be testing only and require you to "invite" any users that would be using it. And when connecting to it they will have some extra warnings about it be an unreviewed test app. To get past that, you have to submit the "app" (as in the one you created on google) for review so that Google can verify it.

Next though, I wanted to use this to migrate my data from Google to my own NextCloud server. For photos, it is nearly useless. Again, might not be entirely the fault of the app but should be known. It is incredibly slow. It took over 24 hours to import around 4500 photos / videos. But to make it worse, the imports are terribly reduced in quality. It apparently cannot import original quality. One extreme example of this is a 4k HDR recording I have of a wedding. It's 40 GB in original quality. The import is only 300 MB!!! Every single photo is similarly reduced in quality.

It also doesn't seem to be capable of importing Albums and associating the pictures with their albums. There are folders created, I'm not sure why it wouldn't just go ahead and create those folders as albums and organize the photos in order to carry over that organization.

So, even if you use this, you are going to end up having to still manually download photos or use google takeout to get original quality of the photos.

For items on google drive it did ok while still being kind of slow.

Finally managed to get this to work. It's ok for importing, too bad there's no way to sync with Google calendar.

I used version 2.0.2 in Nextcloud 27 on a Fedora 38 server.

Getting the Google API is a little intimidating. This is no fault of the app, and is achievable with tenacity.

In my case, the Google Photos migration required creating a cron job to run cron.php regularly. I found helpful instructions here, here, and here.

The overall experience was positive and it spared me the trouble of Google Takeout downloading and re-uploading. 👍

Fantastic - makes migrating from google to nextcloud a breeze (once you work out which APIs you need to enable in the google API settings)
