This application integrates the Epub.js library into Nextcloud. Using this application users can view their ebook files online without the need to download the file.

When this application is enabled publicly shared ebook documents will also get shown in the ebook reader instead of only showing a single static snapshot of the document. The ebook reader requires a modern browser and will not work with Microsoft® Internet Explorer® versions below 9.

Epub.js is a JavaScript library developed by Futurepress, you can learn more about the Epub.js project at https://github.com/futurepress/epub.js/

Thanks. I am now able to view my epubs without installing client-side software again. Great.

The current app does not store server-side, as far as I can tell, but stores client-side. So if you use several devices this app will not support syncing cursor-positions, bookmarks nor any annotations or comments. Since most people do not make backups of their cookies etc. all your bookmarks will be lost if you re-install your computer, for example.

As a viewer it is great. As a multi-device tool it is impractical.

Finally gave this app another try and it worked perfectly this time! Might have been 6 months or more since I tried it last. I'm not sure if this made a difference, but I installed 'epub-utils' and 'ebook-speaker' on my Ubuntu 18.04 server before trying this time.

To test it, I made an epub book with an export from LibreOffice on a Ubuntu Workstation. The rendering was beautiful. Table of contents worked perfect, and the bookmarks are great. Exiting the book and reentering it keeps the place that it was left at; great feature.

If I had to ask for something, it would be for a way to delete bookmarks. Also, there isn't a proper close button like a PDF, text or Collabora document would have. Oh and, the maximize icon seems to not do anything on a Desktop in Google Chrome browser.

I'm not sure how hard it would be, but integration tools for that 'ebook-speaker' software would be clutch.

Handy - Similar to the default PDF reader.
